SFU Signs MOU with Shenzhen Polytechnic University to Deepen Collaborative Development in Professional & Vocational Education

On the afternoon of May 18, 2026, Professor Stephen Cheung Yan Leung, President of Saint Francis University (SFU), led a delegation to visit Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in applied education within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.

As a pioneer of Universities of Applied Sciences in Hong Kong, SFU is committed to promoting the development of applied education and actively engaging with institutions across the Greater Bay Area, responding to the growing demand for deeper higher education collaboration between Hong Kong and Guangdong.

Participating in the discussions and MOU signing ceremony are: representatives from Shenzhen Polytechnic University included Ms. He Li, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission; Mr. Wang Bingfeng, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office; Mr. Feng Xing, Project Specialist; Ms. Li Zhuomei, Dean of the School of Medical Technology and Nursing; Ms. Han Qi, Director of the Nursing Programme; Mr. Luo Xiao, Director of the General Affairs Office; faculty members Ms. Guo Yujun and Ms. Wang Ronghua; and Ms. Xu Xiaojing, Foreign Affairs Secretary.

The delegation from Saint Francis University was led by Professor Stephen Cheung, President, and included representatives from the School of Health Sciences and Global and Mainland Engagement Division: Professor Eric Chan, Dean; Dr. Carol Chan, Associate Dean (Education and Quality); Dr. Margaret Pao, Associate Professor of Practice; Mr. Kewell Tam, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader of the Higher Diploma in Health Care; Ms. Rachel Yip, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader of the Higher Diploma in Dispensing; Renko Lee, Administrative Officer; Dr. Aries Chan, Director; and Ms. Chan Lai Ha, Manager.

Both institutions share a professionally-oriented, application-focused educational philosophy, with aligned visions for strong potential for collaboration. Building on existing achievements in the field of health sciences, this agreement signifies an important milestone in further expanding interdisciplinary and inter-institutional cooperation, as well as academic exchange.

Looking ahead, both institutions will focus on translating industry–academia–research outcomes into practical applications, strengthening student internships and training opportunities, and enhancing cooperation in teaching and research. Together, SZPU and SFU aspire to develop high-quality teaching resources and cultivate talent grounded in professionally-oriented and application-focused educational philosophy.

This collaboration establishes a long-term cooperation platform between the two institutions, supporting the development professionally trained talent in the Greater Bay Area and injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of applied education in the region.
