BATT (JUPAS Code: JSSA05) is the first and only four-year full-time undergraduate programme in Hong Kong that specializes in translation technology, aiming to prepare technology-equipped translation professionals for the new era.
The programme is financially supported by a range of scholarships and subsidies (SSSDP and others). Each eligible student admitted in the 2027-2028 academic year (and the years after until 2030) only needs to pay around HK$10,000 each year during the study.
The programme covers practical, wide and interesting modules. Students will learn practical knowledge and skills of translation and interpreting, translation and localisation of textual, audio, visual, graphic, verbal and photographic materials, all with the assistance of modern technology, including AI.
Students' learning is facilitated by cutting-edge technology. They will gain professional translation/ interpretation skills and critical analysis abilities trained across different media in our "Translation Technology and Interpreting Laboratory".
Teaching is conducted by an experienced team: Teachers are all with rich knowledge and skills in language studies, translation and interpreting research and practices, and computer applications.
Job prospects are diversified: Graduates will be ready for roles such as translator for different purposes, corporate communication officer, copywriter, editor, bilingual trainer, content author and/or localizer of gaming software and webpages, in industries including but not limited to
Translation and interpreting, bilingual publishing, bilingual media, etc.
Bilingual financial reports, product/service information, regulatory
documents, contracts, compliance materials, marketing content,
international communication, management, etc.
Subtitling, dubbing, captioning, tourism, content moderation, software
and game localisation, linguistic testing, language training, etc.
AI-generated-content review and post-editing, AI-enhanced human-curated multilingual content creation and management, etc.
