The programme aims to:

  1. Prepare graduates to apply their language, culture and philosophy knowledge and skills in their professional careers or further studies, both in Hong Kong and abroad;
  2. Equip graduates with interdisciplinary knowledge of language, culture and philosophy that can give them a valuable edge in this globalized and changing world;
  3. Equip graduates with strong written and oral skills in communication for work and academic purposes;
  4. Provide graduates an in-depth interdisciplinary learning experience where they can learn how language, culture and philosophy are interconnected, and be able to effectively apply those knowledge and skills they learn in different contexts;
  5. Nurture the cultural awareness of graduates and their understanding of diverse cultures that can enable them to value and show respect for differing views as well as to cultivate a sense of moral and social responsibility to serve the community; and
  6. Equip graduates with a set of essential skills, such as analytical and problem-solving skills, language and communication skills, teamwork, and self-reflection skills, to facilitate their life-long journey of self-enhancement.
