Programme objectives of each stream

English and Communication Stream

This stream basically covers two domains of English and Communication from both cultural and linguistic perspectives. Specifically, this stream aims to enhance students' understanding of English as an international language, and their skills to use English for different purposes. In addition, this stream aims to strengthen both spoken and written communication skills in professional contexts, locally and internationally.

Chinese and Philosophy Stream

This stream focuses on the one hand on Chinese Language and Literature and on the other hand on both Chinese and Western Culture and Philosophy to enable students to communicate ideas especially in the areas of Chinese and Philosophy critically, cogently and effectively, because Chinese Studies and Philosophy are important for students who intend to work and study effectively in society.

Bilingual Studies Stream

The Bilingual Studies Stream focuses on developing students’ bilingual competence in Chinese and English, by comparing and contrasting different linguistic systems from both theoretical and practical perspectives. As bilingualism has become the norm in the increasingly globalized world, this stream enables students to transform knowledge into communication skills by examining topics pertinent to bilingualism and language practice in bilingual societies and environments.
