Passing on Love Through Education

As a university founded on Catholic values, Saint Francis University (SFU) carries a unique mission among Hong Kong's esteemed universities — to provide access to higher education for underprivileged communities.  Through professional training, it empowers students to pursue their aspirations, establish a foothold in society, and build a brighter future, passing on love and hope to the next generations.

Looking back on my own educational journey, one personal experience remains deeply etched in my heart.  My parents separated when I was eight, and our family faced financial hardship.  Thankfully, the school showed compassion and allowed me to complete my secondary education with a symbolic tuition fee of just one dollar per month. Although I felt underprivileged due to our economic situation, I was profoundly moved by the silent support and care of my teachers.  A respected Chinese teacher once gifted me a sixteen-character motto: "No worry, no fear; no hesitation, no resentment; strive forward, aim high".  These words not only reflected a deep understanding of my circumstances but also became a spiritual anchor that helped me overcome adversity.

Thanks to the education I received at The University of Hong Kong, I resolved to give back to society through what I had learned — particularly by focusing on family relationship counselling.  I hope to support families in need through both theory and practice, especially in building strong marital relationships, including pre-marital counselling, nurturing post-marital bonds, and offering professional guidance to couples facing difficulties.  As a Catholic, I firmly believe that "responding to love with love" is not only the core of our faith but also a social responsibility that must be sustainably upheld.

Having been connected with SFU for over a decade, I deeply admire the founders' unwavering commitment to their original vision — to establish a university rooted in Catholic values despite many challenges.  I have witnessed the institution's continuous growth, its efforts to launch diverse programmes aligned with future development, and its dedication to nurturing talent for society.

I sincerely hope that kind-hearted individuals from all walks of life will join hands in supporting the promising development of SFU.
