Mainland Affairs Engagement
About MAE
To support the national strategic direction and respond to government policies, the Public Affairs Office (PAO) of St. Francis University has established the Mainland Affairs and Engagement Platform (MAE). The platform aims to promote deeper connections with the Mainland through strategic collaborations with Mainland universities, government bodies, professional associations, and industries. SFU places great emphasis on the development and talent needs of the Greater Bay Area, supports the national "Belt and Road" Initiative, and is committed to creating a hub for education and talent. This will help foster favorable conditions for scientific research, development, knowledge transfer, and industrialization, benefiting both Hong Kong and the nation as a whole.
Mission of the MAED
The Mainland Affairs and Engagement Division (MAED) aims to act as a bridge between the University and partner institutions and key stakeholders in Mainland China. This involves:
- Connecting with Mainland institutions to explore collaboration opportunities in research and development (R&D), student and staff exchange, cultural and knowledge exchange, and transfer.
- Broadening the scope of academic and scholastic exchange between Mainland China and Hong Kong.
- To pave way in student recruitment and exchange with higher education institutions in mainland.
Role of the MAED
- Engaging and Connecting to Mainland: Establish partnerships with Mainland and international parties to foster sustainable and collaborative relationships for mutual benefits and development
- Exploring the Greater Bay Area (GBA): to encourage cooperation and exchange in research collaboration and commercialization, student and academic staff exchange, internship, and joint institution entrepreneurial initiatives
- One Belt One Road (OBOR): to build relationships with academic, government and industry partners in promoting the One Belt One Road (OBOR) Initiatives
- Diversified student body: to support the university in recruiting non-local students (mainland and international students)
