To promote youth cultural exchange and technological collaboration in the Greater Bay Area and support youth development initiatives, the "錦繡越秀·藝航同行" Guangzhou-Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Technological Exchange Event—guided by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Yuexiu District Committee, hosted by Saint Francis University (SFU) and the Art Sailing Cultural Associations, co-organized by the Hong Kong Yuexiu Youth Federation, and sponsored by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government—was launched at SFU on February 2, 2026. A delegation of 40 teachers and students from Guangzhou Pui Ching Middle School will undertake a 4-day, 3-night cultural and technological exchange in Hong Kong, including visits to SFU, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Centre, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and Phoenix TV.
The opening ceremony was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Tang Fei, MH, Legislative Council Member (Functional Constituency – Education); Mr Xiong Xiaohua, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Yuexiu District Committee; Mr. Ho Chung Yip, Chairman of the Art Sailing Cultural Association; Ms. Wong Tsang, Vice Principal of Guangzhou Pui Ching Middle School; Dr. Leung Shi Ming, Vice-President (Administration) and Institute Secretary of SFU; Professor Chan Hing Hung Anthony, Dean of the School of Computing and Information Sciences; Dr. Chan Mei Sum, Assistant Director of the Public Affairs Office (Recruitment and Engagement) and Global and Mainland Engagement Division.
In her welcome speech, Dr. Leung Shi Ming emphasised that the event represents a key opportunity to expand technological and educational cooperation between Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Using culture and technology as bridges, it builds a solid platform for youth from both regions to learn from each other and foster mutual growth. Afterward, Mr. Ho Chung Yip, Mr. Xiong Xiaohua, and Mr. Tang Fei, MH shared their insights on youth development, technological innovation, cultural heritage, and regional collaboration, inspiring participants with practical guidance.
Following this, a sharing session was led by Professor Chan Hing Hung Anthony alongside Dr. Zhao Yingchao and Dr. Liu Xueting Tina from the School of Computing and Information Sciences. Under the topic "Impacts and Educational Directions in the Era of Artificial Intelligence", they illustrated key ideas through vivid examples and cutting-edge content, guiding participants to explore the development trends of artificial intelligence and everyday technologies. The delegation also visited the SFU campus to gain a deeper understanding about the university's facilities and learning environment. This exchange programme combined cultural visits with technological exploration, aiming to enhance participants' understanding of developments in both regions and to inspire innovative thinking among youth in the fields of culture and technology.
Looking ahead, Saint Francis University remain committed to hosting and engaging in diverse academic, cultural, and technology exchange programmes, leveraging its role as a knowledge hub to provide more inspiring learning experiences for teachers and students from mainland China and Hong Kong.
