25 Mar 2026

Under the guidance of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education, the Department of Education and Technology of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, and the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, the Chinese University of Hong Kong organized a National Education Study Tour ("Study Tour") from 22 to 25 March 2026. The Study Tour aimed to deepen exchange and cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland in the field of higher education, and to strengthen collaboration in knowledge exchange, resources sharing and other academic initiatives.

The Study Tour brought together administrative personnel from Hong Kong higher education institutions (the "Delegation"). Dr. Fung Mo Chi, Associate Dean (Planning and Development) of the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences; Dr. Aries Chan, Head; and Ms. Josephine Chan, Assistant Manager of the Global and Mainland Engagement Division, represented Saint Francis University (SFU) and participated in the exchange activities in Wuhan.

During the visit, a Hubei–Hong Kong Higher Education Exchange Forum was held on 23 March at Wuhan University. Representatives from 14 leading universities in Hubei Province, including Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Central China Normal University, met with the delegates from 14 higher education institutions in Hong Kong to discuss opportunities for collaboration.

During the meeting, participating institutions provided detailed overviews of their respective disciplinary strengths and cooperation priorities. Exchanges focused on key areas such as sharing of academic resources, faculty and student bilateral visits, talent cultivation, and collaborative research; and facilitated constructive dialogue and alignment for future cooperation.

Dr. Aries Chan, Head of Global and Mainland Affairs of SFU, remarked that the Study Tour provided a valuable platform for communication and a strong foundation for future collaboration with the universities in the Mainland. Moving forward, SFU will engage relevant academic schools and departments and maintain close liaison with the universities in Hubei Province to identify potential collaborative initiatives and facilitate the implementation.

The study and exchange visit to Wuhan substantially enhanced mutual understanding between universities in Hong Kong and Hubei, and holds significant value in deepening highereducation collaboration between the two regions. Building on this engagement, SFU will further strengthen collaboration with highereducation institutions across the Mainland and jointly contributed to the development of higher education in both regions by promoting the synergy in knowledge exchange, complementary use of academic resources, faculty and student exchanges, etc.
