Saint Francis University Global and Mainland Engagement Division Attends Launch of Greater Bay Area Youth Hub (Yuexiu) – Networking Event

26 Sep 2025

On 26 September 2025, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Hub (Yuexiu)" officially launched in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, in support of the Development Plan for the Greater Bay Area and the new "One Point, Two Places" strategic positioning. The Global and Mainland Engagement Division at Saint Francis University was invited as a supporting organisation to join this key event fostering youth exchange and cooperation across 3 regions.

Over 60 representatives from the governments, organisations, enterprises, and youth ambassadors of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao attended the ceremony. Among the distinguished guests were Xiao Fengchun, Member of the Yuexiu District Party Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department; Huang Shuying, Second-Level Inspector of the Guangdong Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao; and Zhang Xiaohui, Deputy Director and First-Level Researcher of the Guangdong Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong.

During the event, Deng Weisheng, Second-level Inspector of Yuexiu District, provided an overview of the Greater Bay Area Youth Hub (Yuexiu) project plan. The Hub operates under the "government-endorsed, socially engaged, and public welfare-driven" model, with a mission to serve the Greater Bay Area strategy, promote integration, empower innovation, and unite regional youth talent. The Hub will focus on three core functions - a showcase and promotion window, a platform of collaboration, and a foundation for innovation and entrepreneurship with the goal of deepening youth engagement, enhancing resource accessibility, and improving innovation efficiency across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. It is envisioned as the "first stop" for Hong Kong and Macao youth to learn about Yuexiu and integrate into the Greater Bay Area.

Yang Jie, President of the Guangdong Human Resources Management Association, announced plans to integrate resources into 6 sectors - youth exchange, entrepreneurship support, and scientific empowerment among them to provide full spectrum support for employment and start-ups. Representatives from Hong Kong and Macao also agreed that the Youth Hub will be a vital bridge for policy alignment and fostering integration across the regions and pledged to actively contribute sustainable resources to support the platform's development.

A launch ceremony was conducted during which the United Front Work Department of Yuexiu District Committee formally presented the "Greater Bay Area Youth Hub (Yuexiu)" plaque to the Guangdong Human Resources Management Association and issued official appointment letters to appointed representatives.

Several leaders then pressed their handprints on the activation panel, symbolising the official start of the Youth Hub. A signing ceremony was followed, marking the cooperation agreements between the Youth Hub, several universities, and associations from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao to establish a collaborative network.

As a supporting unit, the Global and Mainland Engagement Division at Saint Francis University looks forward to leveraging our strengths and working closely with the Greater Bay Area Youth Hub (Yuexiu) and building broader platforms for talent development, academic exchange, and innovation and entrepreneurship to empower Greater Bay Area youth and drive deeper integration and advanced development across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
