10 Oct 2025
Saint Francis University (SFU) and the GenGen Digital Platform signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 10 October 2025 (Friday) to launch collaborative academic and research initiatives. These will include the joint development of an E-Medication platform with digital healthcare solutions tailored for elderly users. The initiative aims to enhance the health and well-being of seniors through Gerontechnology, while data collected from the platform will be utilised for academic research to improve elderly healthcare.
GenGen Digital Platform will provide the digital technology necessary for the project, including the development of the electronic platform and mobile applications. SFU will contribute its clinical expertise in healthcare, offering individualised wellness service to platform users. These services will include medication schedules, side effects monitoring, medication reminders and alerts for missed or improper doses. Both parties will also initiate various feasibility studies, exploring the potential to integrate the platform with wider E-Health ecosystems and enable information sharing with caregivers and healthcare providers. Additionally, GenGen Group Limited will offer internship opportunities to SFU students.
The MOU was signed by Prof Stephen Y.L. CHEUNG, President of SFU, and Mr Peter C. TSANG, Founder of the GenGen Digital Platform. Prof CHEUNG said, "As a University of Applied Sciences, SFU is committed to leveraging applied research to help industries utilise existing technologies to address social challenges and promote public welfare." He noted that this project exemplifies how industry–academia collaboration can drive the advancement and popularisation of Gerontechnology, helping to address the challenges of an ageing population and alleviate the pressures faced by the elderly, caregivers, and the healthcare system.
Mr Peter C. TSANG expressed his hope that, through the collaboration with SFU, both parties can engage in a wide range of collaborative initiatives, including joint research projects, clinical trials and pilots, academic programmes, and knowledge exchange. He emphasised that these joint efforts aim to continuously raise the standards of elderly health management and foster innovation and progress in the field of senior care.
