President of SFU Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung recently delivered a keynote address at the kick-off ceremony of "Hong Kong Financial Literacy Championship 2026", where he shared his insights into the far-reaching impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the macroeconomy and labour market.
Professor Cheung said, "AI is no longer a distant vision of the future. It is already transforming the way we live, work, and learn. From education, healthcare, finance to public services and business operations, AI is bringing new momentum to society while also prompting deeper reflection on future employment, workforce transformation and talent development."
As a pioneering applied sciences university, SFU has been proactively integrating AI into teaching, learning and research, promoting interdisciplinary education, and placing equal emphasis on technological and ethical literacy. Ongoing efforts are also made to equip SFU students with an innovative, creative and entrepreneurial mindset, preparing them to be future ready.
