As Hong Kong's pioneering University of Applied Sciences and a member institution of the Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences, Saint Francis University (SFU)  has been actively expanding collaboration with Mainland institutions to promote applied education and professional talent development. Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of SFU, is currently in Germany as part of the delegation of the Working Group on Planning and Construction of the University Town, where he is learning from the role of universities of applied sciences in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, with a view to drawing further inspiration for the development of applied education in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Earlier, SFU and Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) have signed a MoU to deepen collaboration in health sciences education between Guangdong and Hong Kong, nurture high-calibre applied talent, and contribute to enhancing health service capacity in the GBA.

Professor Cheung led a delegation from the School of Health Sciences and the Office of International and Mainland Affairs on a visit to SZPU, where he witnessed the signing of the MoU, laying the foundation for future collaboration in areas such as curriculum articulation, faculty and student exchange, and practical training.

Professor Cheung said, "SFU has always been committed to advancing applied education and actively strengthening collaboration with Mainland institutions, further reinforcing the University's role as a University of Applied Sciences. By drawing on the strengths of both institutions, we aim to enhance students' professional competence and broaden their national perspective, nurturing health sciences talent to meet the needs of the Greater Bay Area and the wider industry."
