AI and ICT for Telehealth

Artificial intelligence (AI) and Information Communication Technology (ICT) are rapidly evolving technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the delivery of healthcare services through telehealth. Telehealth is the use of digital technologies to provide medical care and health education to patients who are unable to visit a healthcare provider in person. It involves the use of ICT to provide healthcare services remotely, which can help to improve access to care, reduce healthcare costs, and improve patient outcomes. AI and ICT are rapidly transforming the field of telehealth, making it possible to deliver high-quality healthcare services remotely and to enhance telehealth services by improving the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. AI and ICT in telehealth are transforming the way that healthcare services are delivered, making it possible to provide high-quality care to patients remotely.
Telehealth providers must address security issues to ensure that patient data is protected, and healthcare services are delivered safely and effectively. This includes implementing robust security measures, such as encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, and ensuring that staff is trained to identify and respond to security threats.
The AI Telehealth platform developed by SFU is the first platform passed all the security requirements on 14 Feb 2025 to connect eHealth for direct downloading medication information to designated organizations. It is an integrated care platform connecting Residential Care Homes, Community Pharmacies, Health Centres, Schools, and Psychotherapy services. It received a silver award from HKMA/HKT by the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong on 29 June 2026.
