Science of Science: Analyzing changes and trends of academic community based on publications and citations

The academic community and their research are undergoing many changes, due to a variety of factors. For example, the influence of university ranking metrics, the move to Open Access publishing, and the availability of AI as tool for research. Interesting research questions can be asked about the overall productivity and fairness of rating. Such questions can be studied from the vast amounts of publications and citations data available. Analysis can be done on the publication rates, collaboration patterns, publication venue distributions, various trends, and so on.
