About Us
The Industry University Partnerships Office (IUPO) is established to provide essential support services in six key areas of partnership for all five Schools and various Departments within the university, benefiting over 6,000 students and staff. The functions and cross-functions of the IUPO are outlined as follows:
Internship and Graduate Placement
The IUPO will proactively build and maintain relationships with industry partners to identify opportunities for internships and graduate placements. By collaborating closely with the Career Centre, the IUPO will support students' career development and offer comprehensive pre-internship training. This initiative will empower students by providing diverse subjects to explore and aiding them in planning successful future careers.
Experiential Learning
The IUPO will organize various activities in partnership with industry to enhance experiential learning for students. This may include work experience sessions for hands-on exposure, arranging company and field visits to familiarize students with different departments and operations, and delivering guest lectures and workshops that share industry insights, sparking interest among both students and secondary school attendees.
Continuing Education and Professional Development
The IUPO will seek partnerships to develop customized training programmes, workshops, and seminars focused on enhancing employees' skills and knowledge. Additionally, it will provide continuing education opportunities for professionals in the community.
Industry Involvement in Academic Programmes
The IUPO will engage industry representatives in collaboration with academic staff, involving them in programme development and review, inviting them to serve as external examiners for assessments, competitions, capstone projects and seeking their guidance on programme-related matters.
Joint Research and Innovation Projects
The IUPO will promote collaborative research and innovation initiatives between faculty and industry partners. The office will work closely with the Research Office to facilitate knowledge transfer and explore funding opportunities for innovative research endeavors.
Community Outreach and Engagement
The IUPO will collaborate with industry partners to organize volunteer activities, awareness campaigns, and events that unite students, staff, and community members, fostering positive change.
