FAQ

1. What Language Centre website features might I find helpful?

Apart from providing basic information about our Centre, our website has been conveniently linked up with a variety of language learning and international news websites. We also offer some specially designed on-line exercises that aim to give students a variety of self-assessment tests in English.

2. Can I borrow books or movies from the Centre?

All materials in our SALs are not for loan. Nevertheless, you are allowed to borrow books (except for the Examination Skills) or magazines temporarily for photocopying of any information you find useful. All of which need to be returned immediately after use.

3. What kinds of Language Enhancement Course do you offer?

We offer a range of English and Chinese Enhancement Course, from speaking to exam preparatory purposes. Details can be found on the whiteboard inside the Language Centre located in the library.

4. Is the Language Enhancement Course credit bearing?

All Language Enhancement Courses are non-credit bearing at present. These voluntary modules serve as interest classes for students who wish to learn English or other languages in a stress-free atmosphere.

5. Do Language Nurses help proofread my homework?

Language Nurses neither proofread your homework nor teach you English. Their main role is to provide basic language consultation and to encourage students to be more independent in their language learning. In view of this, you can ask the nurses for language-learning advice and guidance in choosing resources in the SALs.

6. What if I cannot find the materials I need in your Centre?

We have tried our very best to include the most popular language learning resources in our Centre. If you still cannot find the materials you are looking for, please contact us.
