Biography
Ms Kelly CHEUNG is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences and a Registered Social Worker with over fifteen years of professional experience in medical social work, patient & carer empowerment, family-based interventions, and social work administration within public healthcare and community settings.
Ms CHEUNG is currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy in Social Welfare at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with a research focus on patient empowerment. She holds a Master of Arts in Family Counselling and Family Education and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Work. Her professional career has been primarily with the Hospital Authority, where she has served in a wide spectrum of roles ranging from front line practice to managerial and administrative positions.
Her areas of expertise include psychosocial assessment and intervention, patient empowerment, medical social collaboration, crisis intervention, and family centred practice. She has extensive experience in multidisciplinary collaboration, service development, programme evaluation, staff supervision, and professional training.
Ms CHEUNG has been actively involved in the supervision and professional development of social work students from different universities in Hong Kong. Drawing on her clinical and administrative background, her teaching emphasises the integration of theory and practice, reflective learning, ethical decision making, and professional competence in real world service contexts.
