My name is Peter Chi Wan Yip, and I am a dedicated academic and professional with extensive experience in accounting, corporate governance, and business education. Over the years, I have been fortunate to contribute to both academia and the professional field, working alongside students, colleagues, and industry experts to advance knowledge and cultivate future leaders in the business world. I approach my work with humility, professionalism, and a deep commitment to lifelong learning.
I hold a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of South Australia and a Master of Professional Accounting from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I am a CPA accredited by both the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants, credentials that have supported my teaching, research, and professional endeavors.
My professional journey began in international audit firms, where I gained valuable expertise in audit planning, financial reporting, and fraud investigations. These practical experiences laid the groundwork for my transition into academia. I have held teaching and leadership roles at esteemed institutions, including Hong Kong Baptist University, City University of Hong Kong, and other higher education institutions. My teaching spans a wide range of subjects, including auditing, corporate governance, financial accounting, and sustainability reporting. I have also been involved in program leadership, curriculum development, and fostering strong connections between academia and industry.
In addition to teaching, I have engaged in meaningful research on corporate governance, sustainability, and financial performance. My work has been featured in respected journals, and I have presented at international conferences in cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, and Osaka. These experiences have allowed me to contribute to important academic discussions and professional advancements.
Beyond academia, I actively engage with professional organizations, serving as a speaker, advisor, and reviewer for bodies such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. These roles enable me to share insights and collaborate with professionals to support the growth of the accounting and business fields.

Throughout my academic career, I have been fortunate to teach and mentor students across a broad spectrum of business and accounting disciplines. My teaching journey has spanned respected institutions such as Hong Kong Baptist University and City University of Hong Kong, where I have contributed to both undergraduate and postgraduate education through lectures, workshops, and curriculum development.
At Hong Kong Baptist University, I taught courses such as Advanced Accounting I & II and Principles of Accounting I & II. These courses enabled me to guide students in mastering complex accounting principles while fostering their analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition to teaching, I supervised final-year research projects for Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accountancy students, helping them refine their research methodologies and apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios.
At City University of Hong Kong, I delivered courses in Auditing and Financial Accounting. These courses were designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of accounting while encouraging them to think critically about real-world applications. I worked closely with students to ensure they effectively grasped the key concepts and were prepared to meet industry standards.
Beyond classroom teaching, I have actively contributed to program leadership and development. I was involved in designing and managing academic programs that ensured a balance between theoretical rigor and practical relevance. Additionally, I collaborated with professional bodies, such as the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, to ensure that course content met industry expectations and aligned with professional qualifications. I have also supported students in securing internships and scholarships, helping them make meaningful connections between their academic learning and future career paths.
My teaching philosophy revolves around creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore, question, and apply their knowledge. I am committed to inspiring students to develop the skills and confidence needed to address the challenges of the professional world.
My research focuses on the intersection of corporate governance, sustainability, and financial performance. I am particularly interested in how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors are integrated into corporate strategies and their impact on business outcomes. Currently, my work examines governance practices in the Greater Bay Area of China and the technology sector, aiming to provide valuable insights into the practical application of governance frameworks and foster further collaboration between academia and industry.
Some of my research projects have been supported by institutional resources, which have allowed me to conduct more in-depth studies and share findings through academic publications and conferences. These funding opportunities have supported my exploration of corporate governance and sustainability, contributing to both theoretical advancements and practical applications in the field.
I actively participate in research centres and academic groups dedicated to corporate governance and sustainability. These collaborative platforms provide opportunities to exchange ideas, share expertise, and work with fellow researchers and professionals to address key challenges in the field, bridging the gap between academic research and real-world practices.
