SFU Celebrates Success at CUPP 2025: Seed Funding and Special Recognition for Spark Legacy D-Day

29 Aug 2025

Saint Francis University is proud to share an outstanding achievement at the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) 2025 Final Pitch on 29 August.

Our student startup Spark Legacy D-Day—founded by three part-time students from the Bachelor of Entrepreneurial Management (Honours) in Design Business (BEMDB) programme—earned a place among the Top 10 finalist teams and brought home HK$100,000 in seed funding from the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund, along with the coveted "Most Engaging Team" Award.

Spark Legacy D-Day is an innovative blockchain-based e-Will platform, designed to make digital estate planning secure, transparent, and future-proof for the next generation.

This remarkable journey began months ago when the team, mentored from concept to execution by Dr Ken Ip, Assistant Professor at the Rita Tong Liu School of Business and Hospitality Management and Associate Director of the Innovative Incubation Centre (IIC), was selected through a highly competitive nomination and vetting process.

From classroom learning to Silicon Valley, the team represented SFU at the 10-day Entrepreneurship Boot Camp at Draper University in August, where they received world-class mentorship and pitched to global investors. They then returned to Hong Kong for the final challenge—and delivered a standout performance.

This success highlights SFU's commitment to entrepreneurship, innovation, and experiential learning, and demonstrates the critical role of the IIC in transforming bold ideas into impactful ventures.

Congratulations to Spark Legacy D-Day—a shining example of how SFU students can innovate, compete, and thrive on international stages.
