作为一位女性主义社会工作实践者，Doris自大学毕业后，一直以不同身份积极参与各类妇女组织。 充权和社会公义是支撑她的服务和研究实践的两个核心价值观。 她认为每个人控制自己生活选择和命运的权利是应该被承认；但在很多时候，无数的结构和文化障碍限制了这一权利。 她曾与各种被边缘化和被污名化的女性群体工作，例如性暴力幸存者、性工作者、新来港人士和其他边缘女性群体；她致力于在教学、实践和研究中促进充权实践。
