Research Professor (Part-time base), S.K. Yee School of Health (Ref: 25/163/HS/RP)
Duties
  • Review and provide feedback on proposals submitted by academic staff.
  • Identify and advise Schools on key research areas.
  • Support the submission and application process for research ethics.
  • Submit research funding applications for projects supported by government and other community sources.
  • Assist University staff in applying for government and industrial applied research grants.
  • Provide leadership in developing the research capability of SFU staff and conducting research in select thematic areas.
  • Submit proposals to bid for RGC and other external competitive research grants.
  • Mentor, manage, and/or supervise a team of researchers, including contract research staff, research students, and technical/administrative staff.
  • Initiate and collaborate with local and overseas institutions on research projects.
  • Produce high-impact research output in line with international standards and enhance the research culture of the University.

Additionally, perform any other duties as assigned by the University, Head of Department, or Dean of School.

Appointment Criteria
  • A PhD degree in Health Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in research and publications at the Professor level in a local and/or overseas university.
  • A strong educational background with a well-established network in the local industry and educational sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills, along with a proven track record of substantial research experience in higher education, particularly in SFU's selected themes and clusters.
  • A recognized record of high-impact research output, professional recognition of research excellence, and demonstrated leadership in research, including success in securing major external competitive research grants.

Research Assistant, Ip Ying To Lee Yu Yee School of Humanities and Languages (Ref: 25/157/HL/RA)
Duties

The appointee will assist in the research project on: (a) administrative and coordinating work (b) collecting data and pre-processing them for experiments; (c) recruiting participants in experiments; (d) annotating data; (e) managing and updating datasets; (f) preparing reports; and (g) performing other duties as assigned.

Appointment Criteria

Applicants should have (a) a recognized Bachelor's degree in humanities field, preferably in the area of English language education and/or linguistics; (b) solid research experience; (c) excellent communication and interpersonal skills; (d) positive attitude and ability to work well in a team; (e) proficiency in both written and spoken English; (f) proficiency in computer applications; and (g) corpus knowledge is preferable.

Duties

Duties

Three appointees will be appointed for three different disciplines respectively (i.e., Accounting & Finance / Corporate Administration; Entrepreneurship / Management; Hotel & Tourism / Marketing). Each of them will be responsible to assist administrative and coordinating work for the research project. Duties

The appointee will support the Principal Investigator in a research project. Irregular working hours and/or weekend work may be required.

The appointee will be responsible for:
(a) editing various research outputs, including books, reports, and conference papers;
(b) translating research materials between English and Chinese;
(c) compiling research reports and preparing materials for conference presentations and publications;
(d) conducting literature reviews;
(e) performing qualitative data analysis;
(f) handling relevant administrative tasks;
(g) performing other duties as assigned.

Appointment Criteria

Applicants should:
(a) possess a recognized bachelor's degree or higher in translation, linguistics, social sciences, or a closely related field; a master's degree is highly preferred;
(b) have at least three years of relevant full-time post-qualification experience in editing, translation, or academic research support;
(c) demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with a keen eye for detail in editing and a flair for accurate translation;
(d) be proficient in qualitative data analysis;
(e) exhibit strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
(f) be highly self-motivated, responsible, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Duties

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigators. His/her task will include (i) event planning and management; (ii) assisting in drafting operational manuals, training materials, powerpoints, forms, templates and reports; (iii) assisting in video shooting, editing and drafting subtitles; (iv) arranging and assisting to conduct interviews & focus groups as well as designing survey questionnaires and collecting quantitative data; (v) conducting data analysis of the verbatim transcription with software e.g., Nvivo and/or quantitative data with SPSS; (v) drafting research manuscripts and other presentation materials for presentation/publication in conferences/journals; (vi) performing other tasks as assigned.

Appointment Criteria Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a Master's/MPhil degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline; (ii) rich experiences in event planning and management; (iii) solid training and experience in research methods and data analysis, both quantitative and qualitative; (iv) excellent English and Chinese proficiency.

Duties

Research Assistant: the appointee will be responsible to assist various tasks for the research projects. Tasks include: (a) conducting literature review; (b) collecting and data analyzing; (c) preparing reports; (d) writing and contributing to publications; (e) performing other duties as assigned.

 

Research Fellow / Research Associate: the appointee will be responsible various tasks for the research projects. Tasks include: (a) coordinating research design, (b) liaising with industrial parties and institutions; (c) organizing seminars and workshops; (d) overseeing data collection, analysis and management; (e) writing academic publications and reports; (f) editing book series, newsletter and journal; (g) teaching courses in the humanities; (h) performing other duties as assigned.

Appointment Criteria

Research Assistant: Applicants should have a) a bachelor's degree or master's degree in relevant fields; b) familiarity with database management tools (such as SQL, MS Access, etc.); (c) knowledge of programming tools (such as Python and C++) would be a plus; d) have good communication skills and sense of responsibility.

 

Research Associate / Research Fellow: Applicants should have a) a doctoral degree in the humanities, computer science or other related disciplines; b) strong background in research methodology; (c) able to work independently; d) proficiency in writing and speaking in English and Chinese; (e) have good communication and presentation skills.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
